Riders' Birdsall earns weekly USHL honor

Chris Birdsall of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders is a co-winner of the United States Hockey League's Goaltender of the Week award. Birdsall shares the award with David Jacobson of Sioux Falls.
A second-year USHLer, Birdsall, 16, won a pair of games last week, including 3-2 over Fargo in an eight-player shootout. Birdsall allowed just one goal in the elongated shootout.
His other win was 4-1 over Dubuque. Both games were at home.
The Boston College commitment is 5-1-1 this season, winning four of his last five starts.
Team USA's Jack Eichel was named Monday as the USHL's Forward of the Week, Chad Duchesne of Sioux Falls the league Defenseman of the Week.
