Riders’ Amlong commits to UMass-Lowell

Defenseman Greg Amlong of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders has verbally committed to play college hockey beginning next season at Massachusetts-Lowell.
Amlong, 19, has three assists in four games this season for the Riders. He had a goal and 12 assists in 45 games last season.
He will join RoughRiders teammate and fellow O'Fallon, Mo., resident Ryan McGrath at Lowell.
The RoughRiders play Thursday night at Youngstown, Friday night at Chicago and Saturday night at Green Bay. They go into the weekend with a 2-1-1 record and five points in the USHL's Eastern Division.
