Peterson scores late to lift RoughRiders past Des Moines, 5-4

URBANDALE - Judd Peterson scored with 2:46 left to lift the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders past the Des Moines Buccaneers, 5-4, in USHL hockey Friday night.
The RoughRiders improve to 14-9-1, 29 points with the victory. They host Waterloo in a Saturday night game at 7:05.
Cedar Rapids took a 1-0 lead on a Charlie Curti goal 4:09 in, fell behind by a 2-1 margin and built a 4-2 lead early in third period on a Mark Auk goal. Des Moines tied it up with a little over eight minutes left, but Peterson got his winner, on assists from Auk and Mitch Maloney.
Fellow newcomer Brennan Sanford had a goal in his first USHL game. Dylan McLaughlin also scored and added two assists.
Auk and Jason Kalinowski had two assists as well. Danny Tirone had 31 saves for the win in net.
