Masonville's Hermsen headed to Midwest League

May. 11, 2010 7:31 pm
Former West Delaware all-stater B.J. Hermsen is expected to join the Midwest League's Beloit Snappers tomorrow from extended spring training, it has been learned.
Hermsen, 20, was a sixth-round draft pick of the Minnesota Twins in 2008, signing a contract at the August deadline that included a $650,000 bonus. He made his professional debut last season for the Rookie-level GCL Twins, going 6-2 in 10 starts with a 1.35 earned run average.
In 53 1/3 innings, he allowed only 32 hits and walked four, with 42 strikeouts.
Beloit has had several injuries and promotions on its pitching staff, which has led to Hermsen's call-up. The Snappers play in Cedar Rapids against the
Kernels Jun 15-18.
