Lake County handles Kernels

EASTLAKE, Ohio - Lake County roughed up Cedar Rapids starter Max Russell for six runs in 4 2/3 innings of work Sunday en route to a 6-1 Midwest League victory.
Russell (5-10) gave up seven hits and walked three in taking the loss. Giovanny Urshela had three hits for the Captains.
Lake County starter Felix Sterling was brilliant in his Captains' debut after being promoted last week. He went six innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out two.
Travis Witherspoon's ninth home run of the year leading off the game was all the Kernels (13-16 second half) could muster.
The teams close the three-game series Monday with a 6 p.m. game.
