Kernels to host IIAC tournament this weekend

The Cedar Rapids Kernels will open their doors to the Iowa Conference this weekend by hosting the 3-day 2011 IIAC Baseball Tournament. The first game of the tournament played at Veterans Memorial Stadium will begin Thursday afternoon at 1:00 pm, when the 6 seed Central squares off against the 3 seed Wartburg.

Coe College will enter this weekend's tournament as the number one seed, after completing a doubleheader sweep of Simpson last weekend. They will receive a first round bye and play the final game of the opening day at 7:00 pm on Thursday.

The tournament champion this weekend will receive the conference's automatic berth into the 2011 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship.
