Kernels strand 11 in 4-2 loss to Chiefs

Peoria, IL – The Cedar Rapids Kernels outhit the Peoria Chiefs 12-8, but left 11 men on base in a 4-2 loss to the Chiefs on Friday night at O'Brien Field in Peoria. Michael Wing went 3-4 with an RBI and Matt Long was 2-5 with an RBI.
Kernels starter Tyler Kehrer (2-3) allowed four runs on seven hits, walked one and struck out five over 5 IP in taking the loss. Tyler Skaggs worked three innings out of the bullpen, allowing a hit and striking out five. Peoria starter Ryan Searle (4-1) allowed a run on six hits and struck out four over 4 IP and Frank Batista worked the ninth for his first save.
Jose Jimenez continues to swing a hot bat, going 3-3 with a double and Mike Trout was 2-5 with a run scored and two stolen bases to raise his league-leading total to 36. Hak-Ju Lee was 2-4 with 2 RBI and Justin Bour hit a solo HR for the Chiefs.
