Kernels skid reaches five in 6-4 loss at Kane County

The Cedar Rapids Kernels dropped their fifth game in a row, 6-4, to the Kane County Cougars on Tuesday night at Elfstrom Stadium in Geneva, IL. Jeremy Cruz went 3-5 with two RBI and Jon Karcich went 1-4 to extend his hitting streak to 16 games.
Kernels starter Stephen Locke (6-4) allowed six runs (four earned) on 11 hits, walked three and struck out two over six innings in taking the loss. Yeison Almeida worked the final two innings in relief, walking two and striking out one. Kane County reliever Max Peterson (4-2) picked up the win, working 1.2 innings in relief of starter Dan Straily and Jose Guzman retired the Kernels in order in the ninth for his 15th save.
Michael Wing went 2-3 with an RBI and Matt Long was 1-3 with a stolen base and two runs scored. Rashun Dixon went 1-3 for the Cougars with 2 RBI and Mitch LeVier was 2-5 with a double and RBI.
The Kernels look to snap their five game losing streak on Wednesday night at 6:30 pm as lefty Buddy Boshers starts for the Kernels against Ian Krol for Kane County.
