Kernels shut out in 2nd straight game, 3-0, by West Michigan

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. — The Cedar Rapids Kernels continued to struggle offensively Wednesday night, shut out for a second straight game, this time by West Michigan, 2-0.
The Kernels (49-41, 10-10 second half) were one-hit by Peoria's Mike O'Reilly on Monday afternoon and lost, 3-0. They had five hits in a 2-1 win over Peoria the game before, meaning Cedar Rapids is on a 19-inning scoreless streak and has 10 hits total in its last three games.
West Michigan and Cedar Rapids play again Thursday night.
Domenick Carlini threw well as C.R.'s starting pitcher but dropped to a 3-7 record. He threw six innings, allowed six hits and both West Michigan runs.
Eudis Idrogo and Eduardo Jimenez teamed for the win and save, respectively for West Michigan, which is a Midwest League-best 59-27 overall.
Trey Cabbage had two of the Kernels' hits, with Gorge Munoz and Hank Morrison the other.
