Kernels shut out by TinCaps

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Cedar Rapids Kernels were held to three hits Thursday night and were shut out by Fort Wayne, 3-0, in a Midwest League baseball game at Parkview Field.
The Kernels didn't have a hit after the fifth inning.
The Tin Caps scored single runs in the second and third innings against starter A.J. Schugel for a 2-0 lead and made it 3-0 in the sixth on a sacrifice fly.
Schugel (3-3) went five innings, allowing two runs on two hits. He struck out five and walked three.
The Kernels end their series Friday night at Fort Wayne with a 6:05 p.m. (Iowa time) start.
