Kernels pound out 14 hits in 11-4 win at Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Adam Brett Walker homered, and Michael Gonzales had three hits and two RBIs as the Cedar Rapids Kernels blasted the Fort Wayne Tincaps, 11-4, in the rubber game of their three-game series Monday night at Parkview Field.
Walker's home run came in the sixth inning and was his 22nd of the season. That leads the Midwest League, as do his 88 RBIs.
Gonzales was sent to town in the last couple of days after rehabbing from injury. Jorge Polanco added three hits and Max Kepler two for the Kernels (61-37 overall, 21-9 Western Division first place in the second half)m wgi had 14 hits to make a winner of starting pitcher Jose Berrios (6-5).
Berrios went six innings, allowing eight hits and three runs, two earned. The right-hander walked one and struck out four.
Cedar Rapids scored five runs in the third inning and three in the sixth to pull way. After an off day Tuesday, the Kernels host the Peoria Chiefs for three games, beginning Wednesday night at 6:35.
