Kernels officially eliminated

APPLETON, Wis. - Wisconsin scored all of its runs in the fourth inning en route to a 7-2 victory Saturday night over the Cedar Rapids Kernels.
The loss, combined with Clinton's 6-2 win over Beloit, officially eliminated the Kernels (25-36, second half) from playoff contention. Cedar Rapids has nine games left in the season.
Losing pitcher P.J. Yang (2-6) gave up six earned runs in 3 2/3 innings for Cedar Rapids. The Kernels were held to just four hits, including an RBI double from Marcus Nidiffer.
The teams play again Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
