Attending a Cedar Rapids Kernels game this summer not only gives people the chance to watch the future stars of Major League Baseball, there's also an opportunity to win cash and support a great cause.
Each and every home game at Perfect Game Field, fans can purchase 50/50 raffle tickets and have a shot at winning half of the prize money, up to $599.
Tickets cost $1 for one and $5 for six tickets and can be purchased from raffle ticket sellers in the stands or at the KDAT 50/50 Raffle Table on the concourse.
Win or lose, fans can be happy knowing the other half of the money goes towards a charitable cause - the Kernels Foundation.
Created in 2000, the Kernels Foundation works to ensure that all youth in Eastern Iowa have the chance to take part in the life lessons that come from participating in athletics and recreational activities.
Money raised goes to support various projects and support organizations, including Jones Park Baseball Fields, the League of Dreams, CR School Foundation, the Boys & Girls Club, Jane Boyd, YMCA, Switch Program, Fairfax Youth Sports Association, and the Kernels Summer Reading Program.
With the help of fans in the stands, the Kernels hope to raise $15,000 from the 50/50 raffle this season. The Kernels have raised over $3,000 so far this year from the 50/50 raffle.
