Kernels held hitless until eighth, fall 2-0 to River Bandits

DAVENPORT - The Cedar Rapids Kernels were held without a hit until the eighth inning Saturday night and fell 2-0 to the Quad Cities River Bandits at Modern Woodman Park.
David Harris got the first Kernel hit with one out in the top of the eighth inning off reliever Boone Whiting.
Quad Cities starter Anthony Ferrara (2-1) didn't allow a hit in his seven innings of work, walking one and striking out eight.
Tough-luck loser Suammy Baez (1-2) struck out nine and walked one for the Kernels.
Cedar Rapids opens a series Sunday at 1 p.m. at Kane County.
