DAVENPORT — The Quad Cities River Bandits rallied from a 2-0 hole, scoring two runs in the fourth inning and one in the fifth for a 3-2 win Saturday night over the Cedar Rapids Kernels in Midwest League baseball.
The Kernels dropped to 1-2 in the second half and are 40-33 overall. The teams conclude their four-game series at Modern Woodmen Park at 5:05 Sunday afternoon.
Starting pitcher Domenick Carlini took the loss, allowing five hits and three runs in five innings. He gave up a two-run home run to Ronnie Dawson and a solo shot to Daz Cameron.
The Kernels got a 3-for-4 night from newbie Amaurys Minier, and he drove in both of his team's runs. Cedar Rapids loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the ninth inning, but QC's Kevin Hill struck out Gorge Munoz (another new Kernel) to end the game.
