Kernels close disappointing season with 2-0 win

BURLINGTON - Brandon Decker went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and Justin La Tempa (5-9) pitched six innings of one-hit baseball as the Cedar Rapids Kernels closed a disappointing season with a 2-0 victory over playoff-bound Burlington on Monday before 1,017 fans at Community Field.
The Kernels (29-40 second half, 61-78 overall) avoided finishing last in the Western Division with the victory. Andy Workman also had two hits for Cedar Rapids.
Left-hander Dakota Robinson pitched the ninth inning to record his eighth save. He also finished with 10 wins out of the bullpen, tops on the team.
