Kernels clobber Kane County, 15-2

GENEVA, Ill. - The Cedar Rapids Kernels scored seven times in the first three innings and went on to smoke the Kane County Cougars, 15-2, in Midwest League baseball Saturday night. The start of the game was delayed over an hour by rain.
The Kernels (35-19) pounded out 15 hits, with every starter except Travis Harrison getting at least one. D.J. Hicks and Tyler Grimes had three apiece.
Hicks homered twice in the game, driving in four runs. Jeremias Pineda also hit his first home run for the Kernels.
Brett Lee (4-3) pitched seven strong innings to get the pitching win. The teams play again Sunday afternoon.
