Kernels announce release of pitcher Zack Tillery

Jun. 7, 2017 4:12 pm, Updated: Jun. 7, 2017 4:53 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS — The parent Minnesota Twins announced Wednesday afternoon that pitcher Zack Tillery has been released off of the Cedar Rapids Kernels roster.
Tillery pitched in six games this season for the Kernels, having no record and a 6.43 earned run average. He allowed only five hits in seven innings but walked 14.
The right-hander, 24, was a 13th-round draft pick of the Twins in 2014 out of Florida Gulf Coast University. He pitched in 28 games for the Kernels in 2015 and six games last season, which was stymied by an arm injury.
The Kernels and Twins did not immediately announce a corresponding move, meaning Cedar Rapids has 24 active players, one under maximum.
