The Cedar Rapids Ice Arena is seeing a lot of action this weekend. The rink is hot with great-playing home hockey teams.
Today the Jr. Roughriders Mite-As took on the Omaha Junior Lancers on the NHL ice at 12:30pm in front of a large crowd. The teams tied, 4 to 4. The Mites later played the Des Moines Buccaneers to tromp them for a 5 to 1 win. The Mites advance to the semi-finals on Sunday at 8:15am or 8:30am.
The Jr. Roughrider Squirt-Bs have also made the Cedar Rapids fans proud, for they beat the Waterloo Junior Hawks 4 to 1 and tied Sioux City Jr. Musketeers 1 to 1. The Squirts advance to the championship round along with Iowa City. Their game will be played at 12:15pm Sunday.
Throughout the day hot and cold concessions pleased a crowd of over 200 players, their families and their friends. The foot traffic at the used equipment sale held in the party rooms was brisk. The raffle table offered something tempting for everyone.
Photos were taken during all the games by Kelli Delfosse of Captured Innovations. The close-up and action shots are available for purchase at www.capturedinnovations.com.
