Jimenez, Trout named to Futures Game

Cedar Rapids Kernels outfielder Mike Trout and former Kernels third baseman Luis Jimenez have been selected to play in the 12th-annual Futures Game, it was announced Tuesday.
The Futures Game features many of the top minor-league prospects in baseball and is held in conjunction with the Major League Baseball All-Star Game. This year's Futures Game is July 11 in Anaheim, Calif.
Trout, who will play for a team of United States prospects, leads the Midwest League in batting average (.370), on-base percentage, hits, runs and stolen bases. Jimenez, who will play for the World team, hit .292 with 38 RBIs in 43 games for the Kernels before being promoted to Rancho Cucamonga, where he is hitting .329 in his first 20 games.
