Here is an updated look at how local, Gazette-area and former Iowa Hawkeyes players are doing in the affiliated minor leagues and the major leagues. Statistics are through Friday.
A couple of notes:
Former Cedar Rapids Jefferson prep Spencer Van Scoyoc has been placed on the 60-day disabled list of the high-Class A Jersey Shore BlueClaws (Phillies). He’s a pitcher.
Former Mount Vernon High School and University of Iowa pitcher C.J. Eldred has been placed on the 60-day DL of the Double-A Northwest Arkansas Naturals (Royals).
Nick Allgeyer (Iowa/Toronto Blue Jays) — Left-handed pitcher began with two great starts for Triple-A Buffalo, followed by two bad ones, followed by a good one. In all, he’s 2-1 with a 6.65 earned run average, with 26 strikeouts in 23 innings.
Tyler Cropley (Iowa/Kansas City Royals) — The catcher is 1 for 8 in four games for Double-A Northwest Arkansas and on the 7-day injured list.
Matt Dermody (Norwalk/Iowa/Chicago Cubs) — Pitcher for Triple-A Iowa Cubs has pitched in five games, with two starts. Is 1-1 with a 3.18 ERA.
Nick Gallagher (Iowa City West/Iowa/Cleveland Guardians) — Pitcher was assigned this week to Triple-A Columbus, where he has yet to pitch. For Double-A Akron, was 0-0 with a 10.80 ERA in five relief appearances.
Grant Judkins (Pella/Iowa/Oakland Athletics) — Right-handed pitcher has made three starts for low-A Stockton. Has 1-0 record and 4.40 ERA, striking out 17 in 14 1/3 innings.
Mitch Keller (Cedar Rapids Xavier/Pittsburgh Pirates) — Is 0-3 with 6.62 ERA in four starts for the Pirates, though generally he has thrown better than his numbers indicate. Last two starts were against the Brewers, including a 5 1/3-inning outing in which he gave up just four hits and a run, striking out seven.
Mason McCoy (Iowa/Seattle Mariners) — Shortstop is hitting .250 in 16 games for Triple-A Tacoma, with a home run and eight RBIs.
Cole McDonald (New Hampton/Iowa/Houston Astros) — Has thrown four times in relief for high-A Asheville. Has 0-1 record and 8.59 ERA, though he has struck out 11 in 7 1/3 innings.
Robert Neustrom (Sioux City/Iowa/Baltimore Orioles) — Outfielder is on a five-game hitting streak for Triple-A Norfolk, in which he’s 9-for-18. Hitting .276 overall in 20 games with four homers and 11 RBIs.
A.J. Puk (Cedar Rapids Washington/Oakland Athletics) — Lefty reliever is throwing well out of the bullpen for the A’s. Has appeared six times, compiling 9 1/3 innings, giving up six hits and a run, striking out 11.
Brady Schanuel (Iowa/Milwaukee Brewers) — Five relief appearances at high-A Wisconsin for the right-hander. He has no record and a 9.00 ERA. Control continues to be an issue, as he has six walks in five innings.
Scott Schebler (Cedar Rapids Prairie/Colorado Rockies) — Outfielder hitting .216 in 18 games for Triple-A Albuquerque, with four homers and 14 RBIs. Has accumulated over 4,300 career at-bats in his professional baseball career.
Connor Van Scoyoc (Cedar Rapids Jefferson/Los Angeles Angels) — Righty pitcher has made three starts for low-A Inland Empire. Has 0-1 record and 7.07 ERA, with 15 strikeouts in 14 innings.
Trenton Wallace (Iowa/Toronto Blue Jays) — Pitcher recently came off the IL for low-A Dunedin and threw in one game. It didn’t go well, as he walked four guys, hit another and gave up two runs in two-thirds of an inning.
