CEDAR RAPIDS — There’s a lot of Bloomington ahead. A whole lot of Bloomington ahead.
The Iowa Heartlanders revealed their 2024-25 ECHL schedule Tuesday afternoon. The season opener is Friday, Oct. 18, at home against the Fort Wayne Komets.
Of the 72 games, 15 will be played against the Bloomington Bison in Illinois. A former USHL franchise, Bloomington will be in its first season in the ECHL.
It will be Iowa’s nearest competitor, a little less than three hours between Xtream Arena and Bloomington’s Grossinger Motors Arena. Iowa also plays the Tahoe Knight Monsters, also an expansion franchise this season.
Game times will be 7 p.m. during the week, 6 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday. The Nov. 20 Field Trip Day game will begin at 10:35 a.m.
The Heartlanders remain in the Central Division, playing 52 games against division foes.
