CEDAR RAPIDS — Here’s a look at area Iowans in the minors. These are players in affiliated professional baseball from Eastern Iowa and the University of Iowa.
All the following statistics are through Friday.
There are some additions to this list in recent draft picks Jared Simpson (Nationals), Ty Langenberg (Twins) and Calvin Harris (White Sox), as well as non-drafted free agents Keaton Anthony (Phillies) and Will Christophersen (Angels.
Former Cedar Rapids Washington prep Jake Bockenstedt has signed with the Chicago White Sox, but the pitcher has not been assigned to a minor league affiliate, yet.
Cascade native Colin Rea was sent Saturday by the Milwaukee Brewers to Triple-A Nashville. He has been a regular in Milwaukee’s starting rotation.
Nick Allgeyer (Iowa/Houston Astros) — Lefty pitcher is with Triple-A Sugar Land of the Pacific Coast League. Has a 4-3 record, a save and 6.48 earned run average. Has allowed 63 hits in 58 1/3 innings. Has 61 strikeouts for the Space Cowboys.
Keaton Anthony (Iowa/Philadelphia Phillies) — Outfielder is 4-for-9 in four games for the Rookie-level Florida Complex League Phillies. That includes a home run and five RBIs.
Ben Beutel (Iowa/Chicago White Sox) — Southpaw reliever has a 3-1 record and 2.60 ERA in 19 games for low-Class A Kannapolis. Also has two saves. 34 hits allowed in 34 2/3 innings, with nine walks and 33 strikeouts.
Will Christophersen (Iowa/Los Angeles Angels) — Since signing as a non-drafted free agent, has thrown three games. That’s one scoreless inning for Rookie-level Arizona Complex League Angels and two shutout innings for low-A Tri-City. Hasn’t given up a hit, yet.
Tyler Cropley (Iowa/Kansas City Royals) — Catcher has played in 30 games for Double-A Northwest Arkansas. Hitting .253 in 99 at-bats, with five doubles, a homer and eight RBIs.
Duncan Davitt (Iowa/Tampa Bay Rays) — Pitcher has appeared in 12 games, half of them starts, since being moved up to high-A Bowling Green. Has a 2-1 record and 3.55 ERA. Only 32 hits in 38 innings pitched for the Hot Rods, with 11 walks and 44 strikeouts.
Jack Dreyer (Iowa/Los Angeles Dodgers) — Lefty reliever has appeared in 33 games for high-A Great Lakes of the Midwest League, the same league as the Cedar Rapids Kernels. Is 4-0 with a 2.33 ERA. Only 23 hits allowed in 38 2/3 innings. Has walked 29 but struck out 53.
Nick Gallagher (Iowa City West/Iowa/Chicago White Sox) — Right-handed pitcher recently was bumped up to Triple-A Charlotte, where he has made two relief appearances, giving up five runs in 2 1/3 innings.
Calvin Harris (Western Dubuque/Chicago White Sox) — Catcher began his pro career with four games with the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League White Sox, going 3-for-14 with three RBIs. Then promoted to low-A Kannapolis, where he is 1-for-6 with a pair or RBIs.
Korry Howell (Kirkwood Community College/San Diego Padres) — Outfielder hitting .164 in 38 games for Double-A San Antonio. Has eight doubles, a triple, three home runs and 13 RBIs. Also has stolen 11 bases.
Mitch Keller (Cedar Rapids Xavier/Pittsburgh Pirates) — Has struggled since pitching in the MLB All-Star Game. Is 9-8 with a 4.35 ERA in 23 starts. Righty has given up 131 hits in 138 2/3 innings. Has walked 43 and struck out 150. Hasn’t won a game since June 28.
Austin Krob (Lisbon/San Diego Padres) — Lefty pitcher has thrown well since getting promoted to high-A Fort Wayne of the Midwest League. Has made six starts and has a 2-2 record and 2.30 ERA. In 31 1/3 innings has allowed 31 hits, walked 12 and struck out 29.
Ty Langenberg (Iowa/Minnesota Twins) — Pitcher has been assigned to the Rookie-level Florida Complex League Twins but has yet to pitch in an official game.
Adam Mazur (Iowa/San Diego Padres) — Righty pitcher has made six appearances since being promoted from high-A Fort Wayne to Double-A San Antonio. Has no record and a 4.66 ERA, giving up nine hits in 9 2/3 innings, with 15 strikeouts. Went 4-1 with a 2.02 ERA in 12 games, 11 starts for Fort Wayne.
Mason McCoy (Iowa/Toronto Blue Jays) — Infielder was involved in a trade of minor leaguers, going from the Seattle Mariners to Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for pitcher Trent Thornton. Is 5-for-20 in five games for Triple-A Buffalo. Hit .234 in 87 games for Triple-A Tacoma, with 11 homers, 55 RBIs and 20 stolen bases.
Cole McDonald (New Hampton/Iowa/Houston Astros) — Pitcher is 1-3 with a 5.10 ERA in 24 games for Double-A Corpus Christi. Only 24 hits in 30 innings pitched, with 44 strikeouts.
Ian Moller (Dubuque Wahlert/Texas Rangers) — Catcher has played 73 games this season for low-A Down East. Hitting .182 in 253 at-bats, with 10 doubles, one triple, six home runs and 27 RBIs.
Dylan Nedved (Iowa/San Diego Padres) — Relief pitcher is 4-5 with a 6.19 ERA for low-A Lake Elsinore. Has struck out 40 in 36 innings. Is on a string in which he has not allowed a run in his last six relief appearances, spanning 7 1/3 innings.
Ben Norman (Iowa/Chicago White Sox) — Outfielder is on the seven-day IL for Double-A Birmingham. Is hitting .206 in 59 games for the Barons, with seven homers, 28 RBIs and 12 stolen bases.
A.J. Puk (Cedar Rapids Washington/Miami Marlins) — Southpaw reliever has a 5-4 record, 15 saves and a 4.75 ERA in 39 games. Has struck out 49 in 36 innings.
Colin Rea (Cascade/Northern Iowa/Milwaukee Brewers) — Right-handed pitcher had continued to take a regular turn in the Brewers rotation prior to Saturday’s news. Is 5-5 with a 5.11 ERA in 20 games, 19 starts. Has thrown 100 1/3 innings and allowed just 95 hits. Has walked 32 and struck out 85.
Tommy Specht (Dubuque Wahlert/Texas Rangers) — Outfielder was activated Saturday from the seven-day IL for low-A Down East, where is a teammate of fellow Wahlert grad Ian Moller. Hitting .232 in 36 games, with a homer and 11 RBIs. Also has walked 24 times.
Jared Simpson (Iowa/Washington Nationals) — An eighth-round pick last month, the righty reliever has thrown in one game for low-Class A Fredericksburg. In two innings, he has given up one hit, one walk, no runs and struck out two.
Levi Usher (Cedar Rapids Prairie/Kansas City Royals) — Outfielder is on the Development List for low-A Columbia. He has played in 60 games for the Fireflies, hitting .158 with seven doubles, three triples, two home runs and 14 RBIs.
Connor Van Scoyoc (Cedar Rapids Jefferson/Colorado Rockies) — Right-handed pitcher was acquired by the Rockies in a trade that sent big-league infielder Mike Moustakas to the Los Angeles Angels. Recently promoted to the Double-A Hartford Yard Goats, where he has started two games, giving up 16 hits and 13 runs in 7 2/3 innings.
Trenton Wallace (Iowa/Toronto Blue Jays) — Pitcher remains on the seven-day Injured List at Double-A New Hampshire (Eastern League), where he had been promoted. Made two starts for the Fisher Cats, losing one, giving up 11 hits and eight runs (six earned) in 8 1/3 innings. Hasn’t pitched in a game since June 15.
Peyton Williams (Iowa/Toronto Blue Jays) — First baseman is back with high-A Vancouver after a stint on the IL. Played a pair of games for the Rookie-level Florida Complex League prior to returning to the Canadians, for whom he is hitting .255 in 12 games with two homers and six RBIs.
Keaton Winn (Pekin/Iowa Western Community College/San Francisco Giants) — Pitcher is on the seven-day IL for Triple-A Sacramento. He is 0-5 with a 4.47 ERA in 15 games, 12 starts for the River Cats. Has struck out 61 in 52 1/3 innings. Made his major-league debut earlier this season for the Giants.
