Eastern Division rolls to 18-2 romp in Midwest League All-Star Game

Jun. 19, 2012 10:55 pm
GENEVA, Ill. - Stephen Tromblee was one of the stars for the Western Division team Tuesday night.
When your team loses 18-2, one shutout inning of relief pitching and two strikeouts rates as a top-notch outing. The Eastern Division scored five runs in the first inning and eight in the second en route to the blowout at Kane County's Fifth Third Bank Ballpark.
Tromblee was one of three Cedar Rapids Kernels to play in Monday's game, and he fared the best. Fellow reliever Ty Kelley was charged with three hits and three runs in two-thirds of an inning.
Third baseman Kaleb Cowart got in two at-bats as a sub for starter Miguel Sano of Beloit and went 0-for-2.
The Eastern Division team got home runs from O'Koyea Dickson of Great Lakes, Gerson Montilla of South Bend and Tyler Goeddel of Bowling Green. The East pounded out 20 hits and adding insult to injury with four more runs in the top of the ninth.
