CEDAR RAPIDS — The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders have swept player of the week honors in the United States Hockey League.
Jordan Timmons was named Monday the USHL Forward of the Week, with Blake Pietila the Goaltender of the Week. The Riders swept a pair of games last weekend over Chicago and Dubuque, losing midweek to Green Bay.
Timmons, a second-year forward and University of Connecticut commit, had a whopping five goals in three games last week, adding an assist. He has eight goals and four assists this season in 20 games.
Pietila backstopped both C.R. victories, notching his first USHL shutout, 2-0, over Chicago. He followed that by stopping 32 of 33 shots in a 7-1 win over Dubuque, besting his twin brother, Logan, a winger for the Fighting Saints.
Pietila, a Michigan Tech commit, has a 5-3 record this season.
The RoughRiders end the pre-holiday portion of their schedule with games Thursday and Friday nights at Youngstown. They return home Wednesday, Jan. 27, to host Chicago.
