CEDAR RAPIDS — Cedar Rapids RoughRiders forward Marc McLaughlin has committed to play college hockey at national power Boston College, the RoughRiders announced Wednesday night.
McLaughlin is in his first season with Cedar Rapids and is a Billerica, Mass., resident. He played prep school hockey at Cushing Academy in Massachusetts prior to joining the RoughRiders.
'I really felt Boston College is a great fit for me in all aspects,' McLaughlin said. 'From development, coaching, education, to it being close to home. From the second I got on campus. I felt very comfortable with everything. I'm excited for the opportunity.'
McLaughlin is scheduled to join BC for the 2018-19 season.
'The RoughRiders organization is very happy for Marc and his family,' said RoughRiders Coach Mark Carlson. 'Many years of hard work and sacrifice go into reaching a goal like this.'
McLaughlin is the 15th RoughRiders play to commit to a college.
