C.R. RoughRiders beat Waterloo for 1st win of season

CEDAR RAPIDS — Finally. Finally, finally, finally, finally.
The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders won their first game of the United States Hockey League season Saturday night, 3-0, over the Waterloo Black Hawks at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.
Goaltender Drew DeRidder made 23 saves for his first USHL shutout. Justin Cole scored in the second period for what turned out to be the game-winning goal.
Dalton Messina scored on a rebound 2:36 into the third for a 2-0 lead. Jason Polin scored into an empty net with 1:32 left for the final margin.

The RoughRiders (1-16-2) lost their first 18 games of the season.
