Assistant coach Dwyer leaves RoughRiders

Mar. 4, 2010 1:36 am
Jeff Dwyer has left the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders less than a season into his stint as assistant coach to take a job with College Hockey Inc.
College Hockey Inc. is a marketing group created by the commissioners of the six Division I conferences to promote college hockey to players and fans. Dwyer, 29, played college hockey at Yale and joined the RoughRiders this season after a stint as a professional player and assistant coach.
"In terms of what I told the team, Jeff thought this was a good opportunity for him," RoughRiders Coach/General Manager Mark Carlson said Wednesday. "We wish him the best."
Carlson said he would hire a replacement for Dwyer if the right person comes along, but might wait until the offseason to find an assistant coach. Former RoughRider Kevin Brooks, director of youth hockey at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena, will continue assisting the club as well.
