A big check for schools
Thanks to the World Horseshoe Tournament held at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena recently, six area schools with recreational needs will benefit from the proceeds of a 50/50 raffle conducted during the tournament. A generous check for over $2,000 was presented to the Kernels Foundation by Ralph Palmer, coordinator of the tournament. Tom Barbee, president of the Kernels Foundation, accepted the check at the Thursday, August 12th Kernels game. The raffle is held at every Kernels home game this season with proceeds directed to the Cedar Rapids School Foundation.
