CEDAR RAPIDS — Three current or former Cedar Rapids RoughRiders are part of the Central Scouting Bureau's midterm rankings of prospects eligible for the 2017 National Hockey League Draft.
Defenseman Jakub Sirota tops the list at 113th among North American skaters. Sirota has three goals and two assists in 18 games for Cedar Rapids, which hosts Team USA and Madison this weekend at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.
Defenseman Jack Ahcan is No. 124 among North American skaters on the CSB rankings. Ahcan is a freshman at St. Cloud State, who was part of a United States team that recently won the gold medal at the World Junior Hockey Championships.
Ryan Larkin is ranked 20th among North American goaltenders. A freshman at Miami (Ohio), Larkin is 7-7-5 in 20 starts for the RedHawks, with a 2.54 goals against average and .914 save percentage.
The 2017 NHL Draft is June 23-24 at Chicago's United Center. There will be a final set of rankings released in the spring.
The current rankings would indicate Sirota and Ahcan can expect to get drafted by an NHL team. Larkin's draft prospects are more iffy.
