Since a season-opening 1-0 loss to Cedar Rapids Xavier on April 1, the Marion boys’ soccer team has won four straight, outscoring opponents 27-1 — including a 3-0 win over Wamac foe Benton Community on Friday.

Boede Rahe has overcome adversity to become an ace for Kirkwood’s baseball team. He pitched a complete game for his sixth victory of the season in the Eagles’ 13-3 win in six innings over Northeast (Neb.) Community College.
The Union Community boys basketball team got hot in the postseason last season and unexpectedly qualified for the state tournament in Class 2A. With the guts of that team returning, the Knights have a 14-1 record and No. 7 ranking.
