Prep volleyball: Iowa City Liberty’s Cassidy Hartman and Allie Kelly headline The Gazette’s 2022 all-area team.
Area girls’ basketball Super Ten (Nov. 30): Iowa City West, Cedar Rapids Xavier, North Linn remain 1-2-3; Center Point-Urbana, Clear Creek Amana leap into the top 5.
Cedar Rapids Kennedy’s boys’ basketball team returned a pair of all-state guards this season. But an 82-37 win Tuesday night over Marion proved these Cougars have a lot more players to go with Kenzie Reed and Colby Dolphin.

13 area all-state selections return from last season
Center Point-Urbana beat Marion 47-42 in an Iowa high school girls’ basketball game.
Jordan Wheeler was a freshman when Marion Coach Jason Haag gauged interest in female participation. As a senior, she is the only one remaining on the school’s first girls’ team.

Meet the 2022 IGCA all-state volleyball teams. Marion’s Avery Van Hook, Mount Vernon’s Madeleine Miller are the state players of the year in Class 4A and Class 3A, respectively. They are joined on the Elite team by Iowa City Liberty’s Cassidy Hartman and Western Dubuque’s Ella Meyer.
This is the first appearance at the state tournament for the Clear Creek Amana volleyball team since 2014. The Clippers already have set a school record for wins in a season, a total they padded with a five-set victory over Marion in a thrilling Class 4A quarterfinal.
