Trial date set in Cedar Rapids pipe murder
The first-degree murder trial of Jason Blackcloud is set for Jan. 25 in Linn County District Court.
Blackcloud, 34, of Cedar Rapids, is accused of beating to death Jerry Hurt, 46, of Cedar Rapids, on Aug. 26.
Blackcloud, who was riding his bicycle, allegedly came up to Hurt, who was walking along 14th Street SE, and struck him in the head with a piece of pipe.
