LISBON - A ribbon-cutting ceremony will mark the official reopening of Sutliff Bridge Friday.
The event will start at 4 p.m. at the historic bridge, which is in northeast Johnson County.
One-third of the structure was washed away in the 2008 flood. A divided Johnson County Board of Supervisors later voted to restore the bridge.
Sutliff Bridge opened in 1898 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. It was 827 feet long before the flood, closed to vehicular traffic in the 1980s and is one of a few Parker truss bridges left in Iowa.
