Roberts wins straw poll on home field

SAC CITY – Rep. Rod Roberts of Carroll was the winner of the Sac County Republican Central Committee's gubernatorial straw poll during the county fair.
Roberts, who represents two Sac County precincts in the Iowa Legislature, won the poll receiving 53 percent of the ballots cast. Former Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad received 23 percent of the vote. Rep. Chris Rants and Bob Vander Plaats tallied 12 percent of the total each.
