Republicans to rally for new leadership May 17

May. 14, 2010 3:41 pm
Iowa Republicans are inviting Iowans to a rally for new, principled leadership for Iowa on the eve of Gov. Chet Culver's re-election announcement in Cedar Rapids.
Culver, along with Vice President Joe Biden, is coming to Cedar Rapids for a noon May 18 rally in Greene Square Park.
Republicans will host a Real Leadership for Iowa rally at 5:30 p.m. May 17 at the Tree of Five Season, 1st Ave. and 1st St. NE, Cedar Rapids. They invite Democrats dispirited by Culver's dismal re-election prospects to join them.
“For more than three years we've watched Governor Culver pile debt onto families while more and more Iowans have lost their jobs,” said GOP State Chairman Matt Strawn. “We've seen him ignore all warnings and rack up bills taxpayers can't afford, only to make careless cuts down the road. We've seen Democrats under Culver's leadership waste time talking about job-killing legislation instead of helping small business owners put people back to work. This has to stop. I encourage anyone who's fed up with our failing governor to stand up for real leadership.”
