Missouri senator to keynote Linn County Democratic Hall of Fame dinner

Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill will be the keynote speaker at the 2013 Hall of Fame Dinner at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Longbranch Hotel and Convention Center, 90 Twixt Town Rd NE, Cedar Rapids.

The Linn County Democrats' Annual Hall of Fame recognizes the accomplishments and efforts of individuals over the past several years. This year's honorees are Norm Sterzenbach and the late Peggy Whitworth, both long-time supporters of the local Democratic Party, labor rights and community improvement.

McCaskill is the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from Missouri in her own right. She serves as on the Armed Services, Commerce, Science and Transportation, Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, and Special Committee on Aging. She chairs the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Contracting Oversight.
