Linn County buildings will be open to the public next month, after being closed since last fall when COVID-19 cases began to spike in the area.
County facilities will reopen to the public on June 7, according to a county news release.
Face masks are still required in all county buildings, though that is subject to change before the opening date, the release said. Social distancing and other safety protocols will be in place.
Facilities opening June 7:
- Jean Oxley Linn County Public Service Center (935 Second St. SW)
- Community Services Building (1240 26th Ave. Court SW). Department of Human Services, a state-run department located in this county building, will open at a later date.
- Dr. Percy and Lileah Harris Building (1020 Sixth St. SE)
- Juvenile Detention and Diversion Services (800 Walford Rd. SW)
- Secondary Road Department (1888 County Home Rd.)
- Linn County Sheriff’s Office (310 Second Ave. SW)
- LIFTS (5815 Fourth St. SW); masks are required for anyone riding a LIFTS bus in accordance with Federal transit laws
- Linn County Courthouse (51 Third Ave. Bridge)
Facilities already open:
- Juvenile Justice Center (Juvenile Courthouse, 211 Eighth Ave SW)
- Wickiup Hill Learning Center (10260 Morris Hills Rd.)

The county will continue to offer services over the phone and online, including building permit applications, title transfers and online vehicle registration renewals, the release said.
Drop boxes also will remain in place for residents to drop off payments, vehicle registration renewals or any other paperwork. Residents who already submitted paperwork to the treasurer’s office do not need to visit or call the office, as transactions already in progress will be completed, according to the release.
