Nov. 23, 2009 3:46 pm
U.S. Rep. Tom Latham, R-Ames, now has a Democratic challenger.
Bill Maske, former Butler County Democratic chairman, has announced he will run against Latham in 2010.
Maske has been a school administrator for 25 years. He supports health-care reform, calls full employment a “moral obligation” and education a “national imperative.
He has no previous experience as a candidate.
Although Barack Obama carried the district by 8 points last year, Latham won an eighth term, winning by 20 points.
