CEDAR RAPIDS — To mark the start of Earth Month, Cedar Rapids Transit will not charge a fare Tuesday to ride a city bus.
“We strive to give our community members a transit system that is user-friendly and accessible for all. In honor of Earth Month, we encourage residents to give transit a try and help us reduce our carbon footprint,” said a statement from Sergio Hill, transit manager for the city.
Fares usually are $1 for adults and students who do not participate in the free-fare program, but free for seniors, those with low incomes, people with disabilities and kids under 12 when accompanied by a guardian.
Buses will operate Tuesday on their normal schedule from 5:30 a.m. to 7:15 p.m.
