Former Linn GOP chair asks for ethics hearing

Apr. 27, 2010 3:51 pm
A former Linn County Republican Party chairman is appealing a letter of reprimand issued by the Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure Board for allegedly failing to file accurate report in 2004.
Eric Rosenthal of Cedar Rapids has been under investigation since 2005 over whether he received Linn GOP Central Committee funds for personal benefit. In October 2009, the Ethics Board found that while Rosenthal received no financial gain, he should have kept better records for the reimbursements he received.
Rosenthal has filed an appeal and is asking the board, which meets April 29, for a hearing and to appoint a hearing officer.
A reprimand is the Ethics Board's mildest form of discipline.
