Fiegen brings out the 'good stuff' on Conlin

May. 28, 2010 2:47 pm
Tom Fiegen brought out the “good stuff” on rival Roxanne Conlin – after the last scheduled joint appearance of the three Democratic U.S. Senate hopefuls before the June 8 primary election.
Fiegen, a Clarence bankruptcy lawyer who has a practice in Cedar Rapids, had attacked Conlin's use of tax credits in a Des Moines Register-WHO-TV forum May 24 and later promised “more good stuff” including negative information on Conlin which didn't surface during her unsuccessful 1982 gubernatorial bid.
He didn't use it in a forum Thursday night in Cedar Rapids and didn't talk about it during taping of the Iowa Public Television public affairs program, Iowa Press, May 28, with Conlin and Bob Krause, the third candidate seeking the nomination to challenge Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley.
Asked by Radio Iowa's Kay Henderson about his boast, Fiegen accused Conlin of foreclosing on farms when she was a federal prosecutor.
“As the U.S. Attorney, her and her staff put many small farmers out of business,” said.
“That's simply not true, Conlin told Henderson.
