Chelsea Clinton fiancee has Iowa ties

Chelsea Clinton is engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Marc Mezvinsky, the son of a former Iowa congressman.

The daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton became friends with Mezvinsky when they were teenagers in Washington and both attended Stanford University. They now live in New York, where Mezvinsky works at Goldman Sachs and Clinton is attending graduate school at Columbia University's School of Public Health.

His parents are former U.S. Rep. Ed Mezvinsky, formerly of Ames, and former Pennsylvania Rep. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky. Mezvinsky, a former Iowa legislator who was elected to Congress in 1972 and 1974, was released from a federal prison last year after pleading guilty in 2002 to charges of bank and wire fraud.

The couple is considering a summer wedding, a spokesman said.
