An occasional update on Iowa campaign activities
Krause: Grassley is ‘Reverse Robin Hood'
Democratic Senate hopeful Bob Krause is casting Sen. Chuck Grassley as the “Reverse Robin Hood” for offering a $7 billion a year fee reduction to insurance companies and make up the revenue loss by reducing benefits to low-income people and legal immigrants.
“Even the Sheriff of Nottingham would cringe on this one,” Krause said. “Grassley has made it clear who he's standing up for in the health care debate and it sure isn't the hard-working Iowa families who have been priced out of the insurance market.”

Rants calls for Iowa ‘2
nd
Amendment'
It's time for Iowa to ensure the rights of firearms owners, Republican gubernatorial hopeful Rep. Chris Rants of Sioux City said.
With the U.S. Supreme Court about to hear a case involving handgun ban in Chicago, Rants pointed out Iowa is one of only six states that does not protect in its constitution the right to bear arms.
He plans to introduce a constitutional amendment to protect the right of all Iowans to keep and bear arms.

Fiegen: Grassley does nothing to create jobs
Democratic Senate hopeful Tom Fiegen blasted Sen. Chuck Grassley for not creating jobs at a time when unemployment has climbed to 9.8 percent.
“In Cedar Rapids alone, we have seen the announced closure by Terex, Sealed Air and Midland Forge,” Fiegen, a bankruptcy attorney, said. “Other major Iowa employers like John Deere, Alcoa and Pella have announced major layoffs this summer and fall. Yet, Chuck Grassley has not lifted a finger to retain or replace these jobs.”
He called for a second stimulus bill focusing on job creation, reexamining trade agreements and consideration of a new Civilian Conservation Corp.
