The filing period to nominate candidates for city offices closed Thursday. Here’s a look at who will be on the ballot in Linn and Johnson counties in November.

Scheetz, who represents District 2, was first appointed to the board in April of this year.

Cedar Rapids City Council District 3 incumbent Dale Todd is seeking re-election to the council.

Absentee ballot can be requested from now until Oct. 20 at 5 p.m.

Linn, Johnson county voters have until Oct. 20 to submit their requests ahead of city and school elections this November.

Cedar Rapids City Council member Tyler Olson has announced his intent to run for re-election. Olson serves in an at-large capacity on the council. He was first elected to the nine-member council in 2017 and won re-election in 2021.

Johnson County’s Temporary Redistricting Committee is preparing to submit its precinct plan, the first step in the process of changing how county supervisors are elected after a new state law requiring the change was passed by Republicans earlier this year.

Grant Harper is the first Marion City Council candidate to formally announce an intent to run in the Nov. 4 city election.

City officials call it a “proactive” move aimed at maximizing future earnings.

The official filing period for school board elections opens Aug. 25 and runs through Sept. 18. Candidates should file the necessary paperwork with their county auditor’s office.
