Teams enter Week 3 of the Iowa high school baseball season, Conference games are in full swing, including an early-week Wamac contest and a Friday doubleheader between the preseason No. 1 teams in Class 4A and 3A. Here is a look at some notable games this week.

Linn-Mar’s Morgan Rupp shot even-par 72 in the second round for a 141 total, winning third title at the Class 4A state golf meet Friday at Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Iowa City.

Girls track & field: Nathan Hopp steps down after 13 years at Linn-Mar. He coached the Lions to a Class 4A state runner-up finish in 2015.
Linn-Mar’s Morgan Rupp has placed in the top five in all three state appearances, earning medalist honors the last two seasons. She will vie for a third straight crown at the Class 4A state meet Thursday and Friday at Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Iowa City.
Thanks to stellar defense and some late-game “magic,” Linn-Mar advanced past Des Moines North, 2-0, at home Tuesday in a Class 4A substate 2 boys’ soccer semifinal.
Linn-Mar sophomore Charlie Sarsfield is following in the footsteps of his father and brother, who were standouts on the baseball team. He is a key component to the lineup as a leadoff hitter and center fielder. Linn-Mar beat Mount Vernon, 7-2, Tuesday night at Oak Ridge Middle School.
Prep softball: 16 area players to watch for the 2025 season, including 12 first-team all-staters from last season.
