The Linn-Mar boys’ basketball team knocked off Class 4A third-ranked Cedar Rapids Kennedy earlier this week by two points. The No. 4 Lions got another top-10 win Friday night at home, downing No. 10 Cedar Rapids Prairie, 69-57.
Cedar Rapids Prairie senior Mackenzie Childers was a state champion in 2023. A concussion forced her to default from last year’s event. She’s back and in the 130-pounds semifinals with a shot at another title.

Lions denied trip to State Duals after 39-27 loss at home in regional final Tuesday night
Mason Matson hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:01 left, as his Linn-Mar boys’ basketball team beat Cedar Rapids Kennedy, 67-65, Tuesday night at Kennedy. The Lions came in ranked fourth in Class 4A, and Kennedy third.
