With the federal government shutdown stretching on, HACAP’s Chris Ackman says the LIHEAP program that helps thousands of Iowans pay winter heating bills could soon face funding delays if Washington gridlock continues.
Every year, the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps families pay heating bills and provides peace of mind. Households in Iowa still have time to apply for funds through April 30.
Individuals meeting at (or below) the federal poverty guidelines will be eligible to apply for the Low-income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) facilitated through the Hawkeye Area Community Action Program, Inc. (HACAP) in nine Eastern Iowa counties.
