UI Habitat for Humanity hosts spaghetti dinner

The University of Iowa chapter of Habitat for Humanity will host a spaghetti dinner and fundraiser Nov. 17.

The dinner will be from 5 to 8 p.m. at Old Brick, 26 East Market Street, Iowa City.

A buffet of spaghetti, rolls, salad and desserts is $5. The event will include entertainment from the hip-hop dance company MOvMNT, rhythm and blues entertainer Kevin Burt, and female a capella group Take Note. Attendees can purchase tickets for a chance to win prizes from several companies, including Walmart, Los Portales, Papa John's, and Hills Bank.

More than $1,000 was raised at last year's event, organizers said.

The fundraiser benefits the Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity, which has supported 70 families in Johnson, Cedar and Iowa counties into homes since 1994 and assisted 60 families during flood relief in 2008.
