Rain barrel sale will benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Cedar Rapids

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Cedar Rapids will hold an online Rain Barrel Sale beginning Thursday, June 21st. The sale will run until all barrels are sold. Over the last two months, the Club spent a considerable amount of time converting syrup drums into rain barrels and decorating them. The rain barrel project, which began in late April, is a partnership with Coca-Cola who donated 24 55-gallon syrup drums along with rain barrel conversion kits to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cedar Rapids. Coca-Cola employees spent a few afternoons visiting the Boys & Girls Club to teach Club members the importance of water conservation and to assist youth with the conversion of the drums into rain barrels. Once the conversion process was finished, Club members worked on various designs for the rain barrels and, with the help of Club staff, transferred those ideas onto the rain barrels.

Now that the project has come to a close, we are inviting the public to purchase these one-of-a kind rain barrels through Ebay Classifieds. The rain barrels will be for sale beginning Thursday, June 21st and will be listed until all have been sold. In total, 15 barrels will be placed for sale with all proceeds benefitting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cedar Rapids. The remaining nine barrels will be used in gardens at Boys & Girls Clubs' facilities and various places throughout the Cedar Rapids Community.
